Community Initiatives
We believe that clean energy should support the sustainability and health of our community. O2 emc has partnered with reputable local organizations with the shared goal of improving local communities.
Community Development
Habitat for Humanity
O2 emc has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Charlotte to install solar arrays on Habitat homes as a part of their Solar Pilot Program. O2 emc has donated a total of eighty-five 235W REC solar modules to outfit five Habitat homes with 4 kW systems. Our partnership with Habitat Charlotte is part of a wider effort to educate the public that solar can be an affordable solution to the problem of increasing energy rates. These systems could offset an average family's electricity by a third. Since its founding, Habitat Charlotte has helped 1,450 low-income families purchase affordable housing. Habitat builds new houses with the help of homeowners and community volunteers.
Community Health
Clean Air Carolina
For each year in operation, a 5 megawatt fixed tilt solar farm offsets 18,000 pounds of nitrous oxide, 70,000 pounds of sulfur dioxide, and over 19 million pounds of carbon dioxide that would have been emitted our if the same amount of power was produced by burning coal. Clean Air Carolina is a nonprofit organization working toward clean air and climate change solutions right here in North Carolina. O2 emc was proud to sponsor and participate in Clean Air Carolina's 6th Annual 5K Run & Walk for Clean Air.

Greg Olsen Foundation
When the Carolina Panthers football team drafted tight end Greg Olsen from the Chicago Bears in 2011, few had any idea the difference Greg would make both on and off the field. In 2012, Greg broke the Panther's franchise single-season record for receiving yards by a tight end. Off the field, Greg Olsen, through the Greg Olsen Foundation, assists families struggling with various forms of cancer and congenital heart disease. O2 is a proud supporter of the Greg Olsen Foundation, providing relief to many families in our project communities.
